Duncan has 30 years’ experience in rewards consultancy and research, with major consulting firms such as Aon Hewitt, Towers Perrin and PwC. He was also Assistant Director General at the CIPD for 5 years.
His clients have included major companies such as National Grid, BT and Guardian Media Group; public sector bodies such as the Department of Health, Cabinet Office and European Commission, and not-for-profit organisations such as Cancer Research and the United Nations.
Duncan is a prolific author and speaker on HR and reward issues, with regular columns and blogs in Employee Benefits and People Management, 5 books and more than 50 published articles. He has appeared on BBC breakfast and evening news and on Today on Radio 4. He has lectured and presented all over the world, from China to Canada and Ethiopia to Finland. Human Resources magazine rated him as one of the top five most influential people in HR over the prior three years.
As well as advising many remuneration committees, Duncan is a non-executive member of remuneration/HR commitees at Christian Aid and the ARB, and is a Governor and Council member of the Pensions Policy Institute. He has participated on government taskforces concerned with human capital reporting, employee engagement, pensions and fair pay. He is currently also a visting fellow at Kingston University and a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD.
